Cooperation Intention Agreement

On 31 January 2019, IACHR and OXFAM signed a cooperation agreement aimed at promoting the inter-American human rights system and its norms, as well as strengthening institutional capacities for the promotion and protection of human rights through theoretical and practical instruments enabling them to contribute to solving the current problems of the hemispheric human rights agenda. On October 2, 2019, IACHR and the Javeriana University of Cali, Colombia, signed a cooperation agreement aimed at laying the foundations for cooperation between the parties in order to promote the use of the inter-American human rights system and its standards in the academic community and the public and to offer students and professionals specialized training through theoretical and practical tools. Among the special cooperation relations, the agreement provides in particular for the design and implementation of research projects, as well as cooperation in the teaching and promotion of the inter-American human rights system. On 4 October 2018, IACHR and CONAPRED concluded an agreement establishing the regulatory framework for cooperation mechanisms between the parties in order to strengthen their institutional relations and to identify, promote and define projects and/or work in areas of common interest focused on the promotion, protection and guarantee of human rights in Mexico. To this end, the agreement provides that the parties may implement various cooperation mechanisms, including assistance to strengthen the knowledge and capacities of Council officials to use the instruments, mechanisms and norms of the inter-American system and to implement awareness-raising actions to disseminate information on issues of discrimination. The Agreement shall also encourage the implementation of programmes, projects and other activities of interest to the Parties throughout the duration of the Agreement. The Associated Personnel Program is governed by the General Standards of the OAS General Secretariat. The objective of the agreement is to visualize the main themes of inter-American interest in the situation of human rights, to promote the teaching of students on the inter-American system of human rights and its norms by studying cases resolved by the IACHR and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, in order to encourage academics to undergo specific training in international human rights standards. Isn`t it? Students, civil servants and civil society offer vocational training by sending students or professionals from the Western University to the IACHR headquarters. Galway, June 2019.
